Swanson, Minickene Sweep CNE Field Hockey Weekly Awards

CNE RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott field hockey student-athletes Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) and Faith Minickene (Madison, Conn.) have swept the Conference of New England's (CNE) weekly awards, as announced by the league office on Monday.

Swanson has been named the CNE Offensive Player of the Week, while Minickene received both Rookie of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors.

In the Gulls' 2-0 (1-0 CNE) week against Wheaton (5-0) and UNE (1-0), both Swanson and Minickene were vital contributors.

TORI SWANSON, OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Swanson potted three goals over the two game stretch. She attempted 12 total shots on the week, 10 of which were on goal (.833).

She tallied two scores in Tuesday's 5-0 win at Wheaton, also leading the Gulls in shots (eight) and shots on goal (six) in the road contest.

To follow up, she buried the game-winner and lone goal of the contest at UNE on Saturday with a great individual effort, covering close to 30 feet prior to beating a Nor'Easters defender and goalie to the outside at the 50:26 mark in the fourth quarter.

With her three-goal week, the junior forward has now accumulated four career conference Offensive Player of the Week awards (9/11/23, 10/30/23, 9/16/24).

FAITH MINICKENE, DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK / ROOKIE OF THE WEEK

Minickene led the Gulls to their two wins with a 1-0 record and extremely sound play from between the pipes throughout the week.

The freshman produced a 0.00 goals against average in her 75 minutes of action.

In the second half of Tuesday's win at Wheaton, she did not face a shot, holding the Lyons to a zero in the half.

On Saturday, she made her first career start at UNE and made the most of the opportunity. She faced 11 shots on net from the Nor'Easters in the contest and turned them all away, tying a career-high with her 11 saves.

Her victory was an impressive feat, as she is the first rookie goalie in the league to defeat UNE in conference or postseason play since 2017.

This marks her first career CNE Defensive Player of the Week and first career CNE Rookie of the Week awards.
