BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott field hockey team defeated No. 13 nationally ranked MIT, 4-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday night at North Field.
Tori Swanson (Farmington, Conn.) led the Gulls scoring all four goals in the contest. After her first goal came near the end of the first quarter (14:01), the junior added two more in the second (25:49 and 27:31) off feeds from Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) and Casey Halliday (Monroe, Conn.) as Endicott took a 3-0 lead to halftime.
After the Engineers got one back in the third, Swanson provided the insurance goal following a corner late in the fourth (47:26).
In goal, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) made 14 saves to improve to 2-2 on the season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- This is Endicott's fifth win in the series against MIT and second time defeating the Engineers in back-to-back years (9/11/2018 and 9/10/2019).
- The win was the Gulls' first win over a ranked opponent since defeating No. 12 MIT last season (3-1, 9/6/23).
- Swanson's four goals were a career-high for goals in a game.
- With her four goals today, Swanson moves into ninth place in program history for goals with 38.
