BRISTOL, R.I — The second-seeded Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to first-seeded Roger Williams, 12-7, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship on Saturday afternoon at Bayside field.
Trailing 9-3 at the half, the Gulls went on a 4-1 run in the third quarter of play to cut the deficit to 10-7.
From there, the Hawks did not slow down and added two insurance goals in the fourth quarter to secure the championship victory.
Offensively for Endicott, Katy Garvin (Mansfield, Mass.) notched a hat trick, while Alex Palermo (Reading, Mass.) and Carly Pierce (Exeter, N.H.) netted two apiece to round out the list of multi-goal scorers for the Blue and Green.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls caused a season-high 26 turnovers versus the Hawks.
- Saturday's matchup was the tenth meeting between the two schools in the CCC Championship.
- Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) finished the game with 10 saves and has stopped 10 or more shots in five contests this season.
WHAT'S NEXT
Roger Williams (16-1) will earn the CCC's automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Women's Lacrosse tournament. Endicott sees its season come to an end at 13-7.
