No. 17 Bowdoin Surges Past Women’s Lacrosse 17-14

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's lacrosse team fell to No. 17 nationally ranked Bowdoin, 17-14, in a non-conference matchup on Sunday evening at Hempstead Stadium.

Alex Palermo (Reading, Mass.) guided the Gulls' attack with a game-high (tied) four goals and one assist.

Katie Schenk (Southbury, Conn.)Katy Garvin (Mansfield, Mass.), and Morgan Pike (Shapleigh, Maine) also buried two tallies, while Kiana Napolitano (Revere, Mass.), Gabriella Prisco (West Haven, Conn.), Carly Pierce (Exeter, N.H.), and all found the back of the net once in the loss.

In goal, Lydia Akins (Edina, Minn.) turned away a career-high 17 shots (4-3 record overall).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott trailed 6-4 at the end of the first, but used a 5-0 run in the second to take a 9-6 lead with 6:11 to play in the half.
  • Overall in the second quarter, the Gulls outscored Bowdoin 7-1 (third-best differential in a quarter this season) for an 11-7 advantage at the break.
  • Bowdoin responded with a 4-1 spurt in the fourth to break open a 13-13 tie and secure the eventual victory.
  • The Polar Bears are 4-1 on the road this season.
  • Akins stopped 10 shots in the second half.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (4-3) travels to the University of New England on Wednesday, March 30 at 4 PM. No. 17 Bowdoin (6-3) visits Amherst on Saturday, April 2 at 12 PM.
