Shinney Selected For D3hoops.com And NEWBA All-Region Teams

D3HOOPS.COM RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott women's basketball sophomore guard Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) was named to the D3hoops.com All-Region II Second Team as well as the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) All-Region Fourth Team, the organizations each announced this week.

Shinney is the sixth student-athlete in program history and the first since 2019-20 to receive D3hoops.com All-Region honors. She joins Kaleigh Putnam '20 (Wallingford, Conn.), Emily Pratt '20 (Gardner, Mass.), Hannah Shaw '18 (Bar Harbor, Maine), Kelsey Cuddy '16 (Madison, Conn.), and Ashley Wright '11 (Merrimack, N.H.) as the only student-athletes in program history to achieve that honor.

Additionally, she is just the third student-athlete in program history to be named to a NEWBA All-Region team (Pratt in 2018-19; Wright in 2010-11).

Shinney posted career-highs of 14.1 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game in her sophomore season.

Additionally, she led the Conference of New England (CNE) in assists (139; 5.0 per game) for the second straight season.

Her consistency on both ends of the floor enabled the Gulls to be a top team in the conference (and region) both defensively and offensively.

Her all-around play was on display against Suffolk on December 10, when she posted a career-high 25 points and also hauled down 11 rebounds.

She also became the first player in program history with two career 12+ assist games after her 12-assist evening against Gordon on 12/7/24. The Gulls went on to win that CNE game in convincing fashion (82-34) thanks in large part to Shinney's brilliant playmaking.

Most memorably, it was her effort in the 2025 CNE Championship on March 1 that separated her from her competition. When the lights were shining brightest, she poured in 18 points (4-10 FG, 10-12 FT), five rebounds, three assists, and a steal against the Golden Bears. Her clutch shooting at the line and leadership on the floor led the Gulls to their first conference championship since 2019-20, and back to the NCAA Tournament for just the second time ever.

YEAR IN REVIEW

Endicott (22-5) saw its 2024-25 campaign come to a close after a 48-46 first round loss to Cortland in the NCAA Tournament on March 7, 2025.

The 22 wins were the most wins in a season for the Gulls since 2013-14 (23).

Between January 18 and March 7, the Blue and Green rattled off 13 straight wins, which was the program's longest win streak since 2008-09 (14).

The 16 wins in conference play this season were the most in program history, signifying the level of success accomplished by Coach Jamie Insel in just her first year at the helm.
