Women’s Basketball Thumps Gordon, 69-43

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team takes down Gordon, 69-43, in a crosstown Conference of New England (CNE) dual inside the Bennett Center on Saturday afternoon.

Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) tallied a game-best 17 points (7-16 FG, 3-4 FT) alongside four rebounds and two assists.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) recorded her third double-double of her senior season with 14 points and 14 rebounds.

Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) added 10 points and seven boards, while Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) netted nine points to round out the individual highlights.

Trailing 16-15 at the end of the opening quarter, the Gulls outscored the Fighting Scots 17-9 in the second quarter. Dempsey and Shinney scored six and seven points, respectively to give Endicott a 32-25 lead at the half.

From there, the Blue and Green opened up the third quarter on a 19-5 stretch to take it a  51-30 advantage. 

The spurt was generated by Dempsey (6), Wallin (5), Shinney (4), Alyssa Garabedian (Cheshire, Mass.) (2), and Sofia Mazzotta (Billerica, Mass.) (2). The visitors held the hosts to three made field goals in the quarter. 

Endicott never relinquished the double-digit lead to end their winning streak to three games.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • In the all-time series, the Blue and Green are 18-8 on the road against the Fighting Scots.
  • The visitors held the edge on the glass, 47-37.
  • Endicott turned over Gordon 15 times which resulted in 17 points on the offensive end.
  • The Gulls dominated the painted area, 38-24.

Endicott (12-5, 8-2 CNE) hosts Curry on Tuesday, January 28 at 5:30 PM. Gordon (6-11, 3-7 CNE) visits Nichols on Tuesday at 5:00 PM.
