Women’s Basketball Tops Curry, 74-58

MILTON, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team took down Curry, 74-58, in its Conference of New England (CNE) opener on Wednesday evening.

Six student-athletes scored eight or more points for the Gulls in the rout. Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) tallied 11 points (4-4 FG, 2-2 3PT), while Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) stuffed the stat sheet with 11 points, seven dimes, five boards, and three steals.

Cora Nadeau (Newport, Vt.) and Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) contributed 10 and nine points, respectively.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) ripped down nine rebounds alongside eight points and Avery Brown (Canton, Conn.) produced eight points to round out the individual highlights for Endicott. 

The Gulls soared to an early 19-2 lead with 2:53 remaining in the opening quarter and never looked back. During the opening minutes, the Blue and Green saw seven student-athletes notch a bucket to take the early advantage. 

Meanwhile, Endicott's lineup depth was on full display as the Gulls finished the final 5:20 of the half on a 13-0 run to capture a 52-20 advantage at the break. The spurt was ignited by Fleming (4), Dempsey (3), Wallin (2), Nadeau (2), and Alyssa Garabedian (Cheshire, Mass.) (2). 

Out of the locker room, the visitors put the game out of reach with a 37-point lead (58-21) via back-to-back buckets by Shinney.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Gulls dealt the Colonels their first home loss of the young 2024-25 campaign.
  • Endicott held Curry to seven points in the first quarter.
  • The visitors' bench outscored the hosts', 32-17.
  • The Gulls have shot 40% or better in the last three games.
  • The Blue and Green lead the all-time series, 39-9.

Endicott (3-3, 1-0 CNE) hosts Gordon on Saturday, December 7 at 1:00 PM. Curry (2-4, 0-1 CNE) visits Suffolk at 1:00 PM on Saturday.
