NCAA TOURNAMENT: Women's Basketball Takes On Cortland At Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine — The Conference of New England (CNE) champion Endicott women's basketball team will be traveling to Bowdoin for the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where they will take on the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) champions, the Cortland Red Dragons, on Friday, March 7 at 5 PM.

Ticket Prices: $15 Adult, $10 for seniors (65+) and students (all NCAA mandated pricing, children 2 and up. Children under two are free). The games are likely to be sold out and tickets will go on sale to the general public on Tuesday at 3 PM. 


FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Cortland is currently ranked 30th in NPI (59.668), while Endicott is ranked 36th (58.860).
  • The Gulls are in search of their program-record 23rd win. They have twice reached the 23-win mark (2013-14, 2008-09).
  • They are also in search of their second-ever NCAA tournament win (2019-20; Scranton).
  • The Red Dragons are led by SUNYAC Player of the Year Kayla Campbell (Franklin, N.Y.). She averaged 12.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.7 steals, and shot 47.1% from the field (38.8% from three).
  • Endicott is led by Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) and reigning CNE Tournament MVP Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.). During the CNE Tournament, Dempsey added to her resume by becoming Endicott's all-time leading rebounder. Earlier this season, she surpassed Melissa Tarpy '98 to become the program's all-time leading scorer. Meanwhile, Shinney ranked first in the CNE and 17th nationally in assists (135; 5.0 per game) while also averaging a team-high 14.4 points per game (sixth in CNE).

WHAT'S NEXT 

The winner of Friday's contest will advance to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and will take on the winner of the Bowdoin versus Brooklyn matchup on Friday, March 7 at 7:30 PM. The second round game will take place on Saturday at 7:30 PM.

The loser sees its 2024-25 campaign come to a close.
