Women’s Basketball Takes Down Roger Williams, 62-49

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Roger Williams, 62-49, in a Conference of New England (CNE) tilt on Tuesday evening inside MacDonald Gymnasium.

Tenley Wallin (Danbury, Conn.) notched 15 points (5-11 FG, 3-6 3PT) and five boards. 

Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) filled the stat sheet with 12 points, 11 rebounds, and four dimes.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) generated her sixth double-double of the 2024-25 campaign with 13 points and a season-best 15 boards, while Emma Shinney (Wakefield, Mass.) netted 13 points and dished out six assists to round out the individual highlights for the Gulls. 

The Gulls leaped out to an early 15-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back. The matchup was deadlocked at 5-5 until a 10-3 run gave them the seven-point advantage. 

The stretch was ignited by a Dempsey jumper, two layups from Fleming, a Shinney jump shot, and a Sofia Mazzotta (Billerica, Mass.) lay-in. 

Meanwhile, the Gulls took its largest lead of the half, 14 points (29-15) courtesy of a Wallin trifecta

From there, the Gulls never relinquished the double-digit lead all half and earned their 10th consecutive victory tonight.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • The Blue and Green clinched the second seed in the upcoming CNE Tournament next week.
  • Roger Williams leads the all-time series, 27-23.
  • The Gulls eclipsed double-digit wins at home for the first time since 2013-14 (12-3).
  • The Gulls outrebounded the Hawks, 44-33 and were plus-eight in second-chance points (10-2).  
  • Endicott held Roger Williams to 10 made field goals in the first 26:47 of action tonight.

Endicott (19-5, 15-2 CNE) visits No. 20 nationally ranked Western New England (WNE) on Saturday, February 22 at 1:00 PM. Roger Williams (16-8, 13-4 CNE) will take on the University of New England (UNE) on Saturday at 1:00 PM.
