BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team fell to Salve Regina, 61-38, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon at the MacDonald Gymnasium.
Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) led the Gulls with 12 points with four rebounds and three steals.
Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) added eight points, alongside eight rebounds and three steals.
Salve Regina raced out to an 18-8 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back.
The Seahawks led 31-22 at the break.
From there, Endicott went on a quick 6-0 run. The spurt was fueled by a St. Thomas layup and capped off by consecutive Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) layups.
Meanwhile, Salve Regina seized all the momentum for the rest of the second half as they held the Gulls to only two points in the final quarter of the matchup picking up a much-needed conference victory.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- After today's setback, the all-time series is knotted at 20-20.
- Salve Regina outrebounded Endicott, 44-26.
- The Seahawks dominated the paint doubling up the Gulls, 32-16.
WHAT'S NEXT
Endicott (11-14, 9-9 CCC) will travel to Gordon (15-10, 13-5 CCC) on Tuesday, February 21 for a CCC Tournament quarterfinal matchup at 7 PM.
