UNE Edges Women’s Basketball In Hard-Fought Matchup, 74-69 (OT)

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team lost to the University of New England (UNE), 74-69 in overtime, on Tuesday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) led the Gulls with 15 points (6-10 FG, 3-3 FT), four rebounds, four blocks, and two assists in 28 minutes off the bench.

Katelyn Konareski (Milford, Conn.) chipped in with 12 points, while Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) notched 10 points apiece in the setback.

Neither team led by more than seven points in tonight's contest, which featured six lead changes and nine ties in total.

Trailing 47-42 at the end of the third quarter, Endicott produced a 10-0 run to start the fourth and jumped out to a 52-47 advantage with 7:28 to play.

UNE cut its deficit back down to one point on four separate occasions before forcing overtime with 18-seconds to go in regulation.

From there, the Nor'easters outscored Endicott 12-7 in the extra session to come away with the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Libby Fleming (Bangor, Maine) corralled 11 boards her seventh double-digit rebounding performance of the season (third straight).
  • UNE improved to 5-3 on the road this season.
  • The Nor'easters have won three straight games.

Endicott (7-11, 5-6 CCC) visits crosstown rival Gordon College on Saturday, January 28 at 1 PM. UNE (13-5, 9-2 CCC) travels to Roger Williams this Saturday at 1 PM.
