DUDLEY, Mass. — The third-seeded Endicott men's volleyball team defeated second-seeded SUNY Potsdam, 3-0, by set scores of 25-14, 27-25, and 25-20 on Saturday night in the New England Volleyball Conference (NEVC) Tournament Semifinals on the campus of Nichols College.
Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) posted a match-high 16 kills (.278) alongside two service aces, seven digs, and one block assist to fuel the Gulls.
Corey Klass Jr. (Beverly, Mass.) finished with nine kills — including the clincher — while Jackson Gray (Glenmont, N.Y.) and Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) compiled eight kills apiece in the victory.
Matty Tiernan (Branford, R.I.) ran the offense via 37 assists (.440), and Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) guided the back row with 13 digs, both match highs.
Battista also was 15-for-15 on serve-receive (third-best output on the team).
Tonight's match featured 16 ties (0-15-1) and four lead changes (0-4-0).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 5-1 all-time against SUNY Potsdam.
- The Gulls flipped the script on their regular season loss to the Bears (3-0, 3/14/25, Laborde did not play in that match).
- Iacovelli had eight digs and went a team-best 19-for-19 on serve-receive.
- Laborde registered seven digs and was perfect on serve-receive (17-17).
- The junior outside hitter is averaging a team-leading 4.17 kills per set (25 kills, six sets) since returning to the lineup against Sage in the first round of the NEVC Tournament (4/9).
WHAT'S NEXT
Third-seeded Endicott (14-11) visits first-seeded Nichols tomorrow at 1 PM for a shot at hoisting the NEVC Championship. SUNY Potsdam's season comes to a close at 18-8.
