BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team dropped both matches against No. 10 Wentworth (3-0) and No. 20 Misericordia (3-0) on Saturday afternoon at the Fenway Classic on the campuses of Wentworth and Emmanuel.
NO. 10 WENTWORTH 3, ENDICOTT 0 (22-25, 22-25, 21-25)
Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) led the Gulls with nine kills and four digs in the setback.
Freshmen middles Thomas Matchett (North Smithfield, R.I.) and Jackson Gray (Glenmont, N.Y.) contributed six and five kills, respectively, finishing with over .500 hitting percentages (.667, .571).
Corey Klass Jr. (Beverly, Mass.) contributed another six putaways, while Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) filled the stat sheet with six kills, three service aces, six digs, and a solo block.
Matty Tiernan (Bradford, R.I.) ran the offense via 28 assists and Dan Battista (Bethlehem, N.Y.) sparked the Gulls on the defensive end with a team-high seven digs (25-for-25 serve-receive).
Today's match featured 21 ties (3-8-10) and nine lead changes (0-4-5).
NO. 20 MISERICORDIA 3, ENDICOTT 0 (16-25, 24-26, 17-25)
Iacovelli and Laborde led the Gulls in the defeat with eight kills apiece.
Klass Jr. was right behind the junior outsides with seven putaways, while Gray added six kills.
Tiernan facilitated the offense with 18 assists and Adin Jepsky (San Jose, Calif.) chipped in 10 assists. On the defensive end, Battista and Laborde had a team-high seven digs as both were perfect in serve-receive (Laborde,18-for-18 and Battista, 14-for-14).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- Wentworth has won six straight against Endicott.
- The Gulls lead the all-time series 24-15.
- First-ever meeting between Endicott and Misericordia.
- Iacovelli led the Gulls with 17 kills across the two matches.
