No. 20 MIT Sweeps Men’s Volleyball In Season Opener

BEVERLY, Mass.. — The Endicott men's volleyball team fell to No. 20 MIT, 3-0, by scores of 25-15, 25-20, and 25-21 on Monday night at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Jake Laborde (Brookline, N.H.) and Aidan Iacovelli (South Windsor, Conn.) tied for the team-high in kills with 10 apiece.

Matty Tiernan (Bradford, R.I.) ran the majority of the offense via 21 assists, while Corey Klass Jr. (Beverly, Mass.) filled the stat sheet with three kills, six digs, and two block assists. 

Today's match featured 18 ties (3-8-7) and nine lead changes (2-5-2).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • MIT leads the all-time series 22-16 (winners of four straight).
  • Jackson Gray (Glenmont, N.Y.) and Thomas Matchett (North Smithfield, R.I.) made their collegiate debuts.
  • Gray posted four kills (.500), one assist, and one block assist, while Matchett had three kills, one service ace, and a block assist.
  • Laborde went a perfect 22-for-22 on serve-receive.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (0-1) hosts Rivier on Wednesday, January 22 at 6 PM. No. 20 MIT (3-0) visits Dean tomorrow at 6 PM.
