BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's soccer junior midfielder Fisher Mills (Ridgefield, Conn.) has been named the Conference of New England's (CNE) Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
Mills carried the Gulls to a 2-1 victory last Tuesday at UNE with a two-goal performance.
With the Gulls trailing 1-0 in the 84th minute, Mills knotted up the game when he capitalized on an errant backpass, tapping the ball around the keeper and calmly finishing into the open net to bring Endicott level.
Then, on the final chance of the game, Endicott pushed forward on the counter looking for a winner. Mills provided yet another moment of brilliance, as he faked a shot cutting to his left and slid the ball right past the keeper at the front post for a last-minute game-winner.
His heroics clinched the top seed in the CNE for the Blue and Green, and also secured a perfect in-conference record for the Gulls (9-0-0).
This marks the first CNE Offensive Player of the Week award in Mills' career.
