BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's soccer team played to a scoreless draw against No. 21 nationally ranked Wheaton on Tuesday night at Hempstead Stadium.
Despite being outshot by the visitors in the first half, the Gulls defense held strong over the first 45 minutes of play. Endicott goalkeeper Brady O'Toole (Concord, Mass.) saved the ball off the line with some help from Konrad Krysztoforski (Bydgoszcz, Poland) in the final minute of the opening half to keep the contest scoreless heading into the break.
The visiting Lyons continued to pile on the offense in the second half as they once again outshot the Gulls. However, the Gulls defense stood tall, refusing to allow a tally to the nationally ranked visitors.
In the 66th minute, Conor Rooney (Monroe, Conn.) was inches away from finding a moment of magic as he danced around two Lyons defenders and fired a shot that went right above the crossbar.
The match remained a back-and-forth affair for the final 20 minutes of play, but neither team was able to break the deadlock, finishing 0-0 as the final buzzer sounded.
