BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's soccer team knocked off crosstown rival Gordon, 2-1, in Saturday afternoon's Conference of New England (CNE) battle at Hempstead Stadium.
After a scoreless first 28 minutes of play, Tiago Frazao (Trumbull, Conn.) got the Gulls on the board in the 29th minute via his fifth tally of the season. He potted the second-chance goal after Codan Foley's (Carver, Mass.) initial shot careened off of Gordon's goalkeeper, setting up Frazao for the easy second chance.
Despite the Scots outpossessing the Gulls for the majority of the first half, the Gulls headed to break with a 1-0 advantage.
In an extremely back-and-forth, chippy, hard-fought second half, the Gulls eventually found an 81st minute insurance goal from Frazao to make it a 2-0 lead. Just minutes prior to the score, a would-be Frazao goal had been waved off due to an offsides call from a line judge. The graduate forward got his redemption and buried the eventual dagger in the 81st minute with what felt like an inevitable second goal of the contest.
In the 83rd minute, the Scots broke the ice with their first goal of the day, but the Endicott backline packed it in for the final seven minutes and thwarted any further attempts from the visitors, locking down the gritty 2-1 conference win.
Brady O'Toole (Concord, Mass.) picked up five saves in six chances, as he improved his record to 5-1-1 on the season.
