BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott men's soccer sophomore goalkeeper Michael McDonough (Dedham, Mass.) has been named the Conference of New England's (CNE) Defensive Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
McDonough guided the Gulls to a 1-0-0 week, with a huge 1-0 shutout win over No. 12 nationally ranked WPI on Saturday afternoon.
The UMass transfer snatched a career-high six saves in the contest, which included a fantastic diving effort to keep the Engineers off the board on a penalty kick attempt in the 21st minute.
He recorded his first career shutout and second career win for the Blue and Green in the thrilling victory.
This is McDonough's first career CNE Defensive Player of the Week award.
