Russo’s OT Game-Winner Propels Endicott Past Springfield, 11-10

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior attack Domenic Russo (Northborough, Mass.) scored 3:23 into overtime to lift the Endicott men's lacrosse team past Springfield, 11-10, on Tuesday evening at Army West Point's Michie Stadium.

Trailing 10-9 with 1:59 to play, Michael Hauptman (Medfield, Mass.) even the scored at the 1:27 mark via a feed from Nick Pagluiso (Shelton, Conn.) to force the extra session.

Pagluiso also was responsible for setting up Russo's third and final goal in OT.

Hauptman finished the contest with two tallies, while Pagluiso notched a game-high five points (2G, 3A) to highlight the rest of the attack.

The Gulls also saw Craig Claflin (Natick, Mass.), Guerin Favreau (Woodstock Valley, Conn.), Nate Cuttitta (Williston, Vt.), and Sam Abate (Beverly, Mass.) find the back of the net in the victory.

In goal, Tim Luciano (Westport, Conn.) earned his first collegiate win (1-2 this season) with five saves in 30:37 of action.

Meanwhile, Christopher Tillotson (Monroe, Conn.) stopped nine shots in the first half.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 1-2 in OT games this season and Springfield is 0-2.
  • The Gulls are 9-7 in the all-time series versus the Pride (broke a four-game losing streak).
  • Today's game was the second neutral site contest in the all-time series (1-1 record).
  • Endicott produced the biggest run of the contest, 4-0, from the 7:32 mark of the third to 14:17 of the fourth (7-7 score).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (1-4) hosts Trinity (Conn.) on Wednesday, March 23 at 7 PM. Springfield (1-4) welcomes Wheaton (Mass.) to its campus this Saturday at 12 PM.
