Women's Basketball Tops Crosstown Rival Gordon, 69-51

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team bested crosstown rival Gordon, 69-51, on Saturday afternoon in conference action at MacDonald Gymnasium.  

The Gulls flew out to a 16-2 advantage in the first quarter (3:41) and never looked back. 

Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) both scored in double-figures to highlight Endicott.

Dempsey notched her ninth straight double-double of the season by compiling 23 points and 17 rebounds, while Laugeni added 23 points and six rebounds of her own. 

Morgan Bresnahan (Wilmington, Mass.) also chipped in by contributing four points, two assists, nine rebounds (four ORB), and two blocks.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE 

  • Endicott improved to 30-14 all-time against Gordon.
  • The Gulls never trailed in the game.
  • The Blue and Green led by as many as 25 points with 56-seconds remaining in the third.
  • Endicott outscored Gordon in the paint, 38-22. 
  • Dempsey notched the 11th double-double of her collegiate career. 
  • The Gulls corralled 21 offensive rebounds to Gordon's seven. 
  • Endicott had 17 second-chance points, while Gordon had two.

Endicott (9-7, 6-3 CCC) travels to the University of New England (UNE) (9-7, 7-2 CC) on Tuesday, January 25 at 5:30 PM.
