Gulls Complete Second Half Comeback Against Suffolk, 64-60

BOSTON, Mass. – The Endicott women's basketball team defeated Suffolk University, 64-60, on Saturday afternoon in conference action at Smith Court.

Down 41-29 at the half, the Gulls found another gear in the third quarter outscoring the Rams 21-7 to take a 50-48 advantage into the final 10 minutes of regulation.

Seven student-athletes registered points during Endicott's offensive outburst (6-17 FG, 2-4 3PT, 7-8 FT), which included a quarter-high six points from Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.) and Taylor Bogdanski (Saugus, Mass.).

From there, the Gulls capitalized on the momentum by manufacturing their largest lead of the game, 57-50, with 3:50 remaining before closing out the contest with a 3-for-6 showing at the free throw line and a timely bucket by Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.) with 12-seconds to play.

Dempsey finished the contest with 18 points and 10 rebounds (both game-highs).

Laugeni also added 13 points and nine rebounds, while Olivia Duncan (Essex Junction, Vt.) filled the stat sheet, per usual, with six points, six rebounds, and six assists.

The Gulls also saw Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) contribute nine points to round out the list of individual highlights.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 16-12 all-time against Suffolk.
  • The 12-point deficit at the half was the largest for the Gulls in the contest.
  • Endicott outscored Suffolk 13-2 on points off turnovers and 6-1 in second chance points in the third.
  • The Gulls limited the Rams to a 3-for-14 performance (.214) from the field in the third quarter.
  • Suffolk's three-game winning streak was snapped today.

Endicott (7-6, 4-2 CCC) travels to Wentworth on Monday, January 17 at 6 PM. Suffolk (9-4, 3-3 CCC) visits Salve Regina on Wednesday, January 19 at 5:30 PM.
