Women’s Basketball Bests Gordon, 58-51

WENHAM, Mass. — The Endicott women's basketball team defeated crosstown rival Gordon, 58-51, on Wednesday evening at Kanas Court.

Sarah Dempsey (Windham, N.H.), Tara Laugeni (Woodbridge, Conn.), and Emily St. Thomas (Sterling, Mass.) all scored in double-figures in the win.

Dempsey notched 14 points and seven rebounds, while Laugeni and St. Thomas nearly compiled double-doubles with lines of 13-9 and 13-8, respectively.

Olivia Duncan (Essex Junction, Vt.) also chipped in with six points, five rebounds, four assists, and two steals.

Meanwhile, Morgan Bresnahan (Wilmington, Mass.) rounded out the list of individual highlights with two points, eight rebounds, and a season-high three blocks.

Leading 47-43 with 5:30 to play in the contest, Endicott held Gordon scoreless over the next 4:10 of action — manufacturing a 53-44 advantage in the process, the Gulls' largest lead of the game — to come away with the eventual victory.

Overall, in the fourth quarter, Endicott's defense stymied Gordon offensively as the Fighting Scots only shot 20-percent (3-15) from the floor, which included zero three-point field goals (0-3) from the hosts. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • St. Thomas scored a quarter-high 11 points (3-5 FG, 0-1 3PT, 5-8 FT) in the final stanza to aid the Gulls in the win.
  • Endicott improved to 29-14 all-time against Gordon.
  • Half of Gordon's points in the fourth quarter came from the free throw line (6-for-10).
  • The Gulls are 2-1 on the road this season.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-3) hosts Salve Regina on Saturday, December 4 at 1 PM. Gordon (2-4) welcomes Wentworth to its campus this Saturday at 1 PM.
