Gulls to face Wellesley in NCAA Opening-Round

Gulls to face Wellesley in NCAA Opening-Round

Nov. 10, 2008

BEVERLY, Mass. - The NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Committee has announced the field of 61 teams for the 2008 NCAA Division III Women's Volleyball Championship. Endicott College has been awarded the No. 6 seed in the New England Regional and will face third-seeded Wellesley College on Thursday evening at Tufts University.

Thirty-eight conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the 2008 championship. Four teams were selected from Pool B, which consists of independent institutions and institutions that are members of conferences that do not meet the requirements for automatic qualification. The final 19 berths were reserved for Pool C, which consists of institutions from automatic-qualifying conferences that are not the conference champion and any remaining Pool B teams.

Endicott and Wellesley are certainly no strangers, as the two teams have already met once this season. The Blue Pride also ended the Gulls' season last year, posting a three-game sweep against EC in the New England Regional Tournament. Thursday's match time is slated for 6:00 p.m. in Medford, Mass. The entire New England Regional Tournament will be held on the campus of Tufts University.
