Endicott stays perfect in TCCC, downs Hawks

BRISTOL, R.I. - Endicott College posted set score wins of 25-14, 26-24, and 25-18 in a sweep against The Commonwealth Coast Conference opponent Roger Williams University on Wednesday night in Bristol, R.I. The win improves the Gulls to 12-4 overall and 5-0 in the TCCC, while Roger Williams falls to 2-3 in conference play and 10-7 overall.

Endicott opened the evening loaded with energy, quickly downing the Hawks in the first set, 25-14. Roger Williams stepped up its game in the second set, building a 22-19 lead that forced an Endicott timeout. Despite the deficit, the Gulls rallied from behind to take the second game, 26-24. In the third, Endicott once again burned a timeout with a 15-14 lead, sparking a streak of five-straight points before eventually taking the match with a 25-18 win.

Steph Wiese (Higganum, Conn.) led the way for the Gulls with 11 kills and 10 digs. Brittany Nolan (Sudbury, Mass.) was also big upfront, notching seven kills in the win.

Casey Ward (Monroe, Conn.) notched 29 assists, three aces and 11 digs while classmate and five-time defending TCCC Libero of the Week Brittany Nolan (Monroe, Conn.) had 16 digs. Senior Hayley Janelle (Madbury, N.H.) also played a role at the Endicott net, posting three blocks (one solo, two assisted) for the Blue and Green.

Endicott remains atop The Commonwealth Coast Conference standings with its perfect conference record. The Gulls return to action on Friday with a challenging pair of matches against New England powers Tufts University and Wellesley at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., respectively.
