Gulls split a pair at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - The Endicott College women's volleyball team split a pair of matches at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Invitational Tournament on Friday night, falling to defending NESCAC Champion Williams College, 3-0, and then defeating Bowdoin in three sets.

The Gulls got off to a rocky start on Friday evening, as Williams College posted set scores of 25-19, 25-12, and 25-17 in a three-set sweep. Endicott was led by Hayley Janelle's (Madbury, N.H.) six kills and Brittany Nolan's (Monroe, Conn.) 21 digs. Steph Wiese (Higganum, Conn.) had 16 digs and Casey Ward (Monroe, Conn.) dished out 12 assists in the losing effort.

Endicott quickly rebounded as they eased past Bowdoin College for the second time this season. The Gulls beat the Polar Bears 25-21, 25-22, and 25-20 to end the tournament's first day of action. Wiese and Janelle led the effort upfront, each notching seven kills in the win. Casey Ward posted 25 assists and nine digs while Brittany Nolan had 14 digs in the victory.

The Gulls will return to action on Saturday morning as they open play in the "Bronze Bracket" against Wesleyan University. Match time is slated for 10:00 a.m.
