Endicott has strong showing in Connecticut

NEW LONDON, Conn. - The women's volleyball team was able to split a pair of games against Coast Guard and Connecticut College on Saturday in two non-conference matches. The Gulls were able to sweep Coast Guard in three straight games by scores of 25-17, 25-21, and 25-22 but lost to Connecticut College in four games in the second match of the day. The split leaves the Gulls record at 19-13 overall while the team remains unbeaten in conference play at 8-0.

Against Coast Guard, the Gulls were led by 11 kills from Brittany Phillips (Sudbury, Mass.) as well as another seven from senior Hayley Janelle (Madbury, N.H.). Casey Ward (Monroe, Conn.) and Ally Murphy (Gilford, N.H.) combined to dish out 31 assists including 18 from Ward. Eight-time and current TCCC Libero of the Week Brittany Nolan (Monroe, Conn.) had 12 digs for the Gulls while Phillips also led the team in digs with 17.

The Gulls would face a tougher matchup against Connecticut College. The Gulls would be able to take the first game of the contest by a score of 25-17. The Camels would bounce back however as they took the next three games 26-24, 25-22, and 25-22. Steph Wiese led the Gull attack as she had 12 kills in the contest and Phillips would add 10 more in the match. Casey Ward had another 24 assists for a total of 42 in the two matches combined. Nolan would lead the Gulls in digs with 20 more digs.

The Gulls will face off against Bowdoin College for the third time this year on the team's senior night on Wednesday at MacDonald Gymnasium. The Gulls will honor their seniors with a short ceremony before the contest begins at 7:00 p.m.
