Providence, RI - Endicott College powered past Rhode Island College, 3-1, in collegiate women's volleyball action on Thursday evening. The Gulls snapped a 1-1 deadlock after two games with a decisive, 30-15, game three win, then went on to outlast the Anchorwomen, 30-27, in the final and deciding game four. Endicott improves to 15-9, while RIC falls to 13-9.
Four Gulls totaled 10 or more kills in the victory, led by senior middle hitter Sara Moore's (Guilford, CT) match-high 18. Freshman outside hitter Steph Wiese (Higganum, CT), junior right side hitter Beth Dow (Pocasset, MA) and sophomore middle hitter Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH) totaled 12, 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Junior setter Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA) handed out a match-high 43 assists, while sophomore libero Brittany Nolan (Monroe,CT) had 19 digs.
Junior right side hitter Sherri Heard (Coventry, RI) had another solid match for the Anchorwomen with a team-high 15 kills. Junior outside hitter Madison Greene (Cranston, RI) had 10 kills. Junior setter Amy Souza (Tiverton, RI) had 23 assists, while senior libero Stephanie Wojciechowski (North Kingstown, RI) had 14 digs.
In upcoming action, EC will host Emerson and Western Conn. in a trimatch this Saturday. Prior to the 1 PM match with Emerson, the Gulls will will have a brief senior day ceremony for Sara Moore and Katelyn Smith.
