Quincy, MA - The Endicott College women's volleyball team continues to dominate CCC play as the Gulls had another Saturday afternoon sweep. EC defeated both Eastern Nazarene College and Roger Williams University in three games Saturday afternoon.
The Gulls topped ENC 30-21, 30-17 and 30-16 in their first match of the day. Endicott trailed 11-17 in the first game but came out of a time out to out score the Crusaders 19-4 to take the first game. From there it was all Endicott. Steph Wiese (Higganum, CT/Haddam-Killingworth) once again led the Gulls offense as she had eight kills and seven aces. Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH/Oyster River) also added 11 kills and two aces to spark the Endicott offense.
Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA/Aptos) has been a fixture in the middle of the court all year and Saturday was no different as she had 31 assists and eight digs against ENC.
The Gulls also topped Roger Williams in three games, 30-27, 30-21 and 30-27. The second match of the day was all about record setting performances for the Gulls.
Sara Moore (Guilford, CT/Guilford) set a new school record for points in a career (Kills + Aces + Blocks) when she scored her 1279.5 point (1046 kills 30 aces 104-199 blocks) surpassing Susan Teta's mark of 1267.0 (961 kills 149 aces 75-164 blocks) set between 2001-2004. Moore is also only 20 kills shy of the school record for kills in a career.
Lauren Lundstrom (Edina, MN/Edina) set a school record for blocks in a match as she blocked nine shots in the Roger Williams match. The Gulls also set a team record with 15 blocks in the match.
Other highlights for Endicott were Wiese, who had 14 kills, three aces and six digs. Hall, who had 38 assists, three aces and 12 digs, and Janelle who had eight kills and two blocks. Brittany Nolan (Monroe, CT/Masuk) also added 16 digs to the winning effort.
The Gulls improve to 10-8 overall and 7-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference play. Endicott has won eight straight matches, the Gulls next play a twin bill against Regis and Salem State Tuesday night at home.
