BEVERLY, MA - Endicott picked up a pair of wins Saturday afternoon as they topped Commonwealth Coast Conference foes Wentworth and the University of New England.
The Gulls swept Wentworth in three games winning 30-11, 30-27 and 30-15 in their first match of the day. Endicott was once again led by Steph Wiese (Higganum, CT), who had nine kills, five aces and three digs, and Meghan Hall (Santa Cruz, CA), who added 31 assists, three kills, three aces and eight digs to the winning effort.
Lauren Lundstrom (Ednia, MN) and Hayley Janelle (Madbury, NH) each had nine kills, while Brittany Nolan (Monroe, CT) led the team with 15 digs and added a kill, assist and ace in the three game sweep.
In their second match the Gulls topped the University of New England 3-1. EC took the first game 30-13 but dropped the second game to the Nor'easters 26-30 before taking the final two games 30-24 and 30-19 to secure the win.
The Gulls got a big pick up from Sara Moore (Guilford, CT), who led the team with 17 kills in her first game back from a knee injury. Janelle added 12 kills and five blocks while Hall was once again the teams assist leader as she dished out 40 helpers.
EC once again got strong play from Wiese, five aces, and Nolan, 22 digs, while Lundstrom continued to dominate the net adding five blocks to her solid performance up front.
Wentworth and UNE also went head to head with the Nor'easters sweeping Wentworth in three games, 30-11, 30-23 and 30-20
EC improves to 4-8 on the season with the two wins. The Gulls host Plymouth State on Tuesday night as they look to continue on the winning track. Wentworth drops to 1-4 while UNE sits at 4-7. UNE will host CCC rival Roger Williams Sunday after noon and WIT plays at Lasell Tuesday afternoon.
