SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott College freshman Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) took home TCCC Rookie of the Week this week as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Monday. This marks Cioffi's fifth nomination as the Rookie of the Week on the season. Cioffi led the Gulls to a perfect 9-0 victory over Gordon College in the first round of the TCCC playoffs held last Tuesday.
The First-Team All-TCCC selection Cioffi was able to earn Endicott two crucial points in the sweep of the Fighting Scots. In doubles, the freshman teamed with Alyson Boehm (Lowell, Mass.) to earn a victory in number two doubles by a score of 8-1. Cioffi then was able to defeat Second-Team All-TCCC selection Kate Kirby in straight sets while only dropping two games, 6-2,6-0.
Cioffi looks to lead Endicott to the TCCC Championships for the fifth time in the program's history as the Gulls face-off against Western New England College in the TCCC Semifinals on Wednesday. The match is set to start at 2:00 p.m. on the South Campus courts of Endicott.
