Endicott stays unbeaten, eases past Regis

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College women's tennis team extended its winning-streak to four-straight matches as the Gulls downed Regis College, 6-0, in a rain-shortened match Friday afternoon on the South Campus Courts in Beverly, Massachusetts. The win improves the Gulls to 4-0 (2-0 TCCC) while Regis slips to 0-2 (0-1 TCCC).

The Blue and Green opened the afternoon with impressive showings in doubles play, led by the No. 1 team consisting of Nicole Breting (Johnston, R.I.) and Lori Wardner (Wrentham, Mass.). Breting and Wardner defeated Regis' top-pair of Megan McCarthy (Norfolk, Mass.) and Jessica Jeffery (Delray Beach, Fla.), 8-5. Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) teamed with Alyson Boehm (Lowell, Mass.) to blank Georgia Cowart (Hopkinton, Mass.) and Ally Kuchera (Waltham, Mass.), 8-0, while Jenna Carme (Greenfield, Mass.) and Kate Fiske (Westerly, R.I.) downed Maryjane Barron (Whitinsville, Mass.) and Kelly Wu (South Boston, Mass.), 8-0.

Singles play was ultimately suspended due to rain. Kate Cioffi and Megan McCarthy were gridlocked at 3-3 in the No. 1 singles match, while Nicole Breting led Jessica Jeffery, 4-1, before the rain began falling. Endicott did secure wins from Alyson Boehm (6-1, 6-0), Kate Fiske (6-0, 6-0) and Jenna Carme (6-0, 6-0) to earn the victory.

Endicott looks to make it five-straight wins on Saturday afternoon as the Gulls host TCCC foe Curry College at 12:00 p.m. in Beverly, Mass. Regis looks to rebound as it continues conference play at Nichols College on Saturday.
