Sept. 15, 2008

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott College junior Nicole Breting (Johnston, R.I.) was named TCCC Player of the Week and freshman Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) was named TCCC Rookie of the Week for the second straight week as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Monday. The Gulls were able to go undefeated this week as Breting and Cioffi led the Gulls to a 4-0 record.

Breting posted a perfect week this week as she was able to go unbeaten in \#2 singles and \#1 doubles for the week. She went 4-0 in singles play without dropping a set and teamed with Lori Wardner to go 4-0 in all of their doubles matches. The junior's strong play allowed the Gulls to attain their first three TCCC wins of the season with wins over Western New England College, Regis College, and Curry College.

Now two time TCCC Rookie of the Week Kate Cioffi was able to go 7-1 this week in her matches as she faced her first setback of the season in \#1 singles against Salem State's Megan Cote (Fall River, Mass.). However, Cioffi was able to win the rest of her \#1 singles matches and then teamed with junior Alyson Boehm (Lowell, Mass.) to go 4-0 in \#2 doubles this week.

The Blue and Green return to the courts this Wednesday as the Gulls board the bus and travel to Quincy, Massachusetts to take on the Eastern Nazarene Crusaders at 3:00 p.m.
