June 3, 2008

BEVERLY, Mass. - Jenna Lazar (Milton, Mass.), Meghan Sargent (Salisbury, Mass.), Danielle Sargent (Sabattus, Maine), and Maria Mangine (Lockport, N.Y.) were all selected to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division III All-Region Teams, as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. Lazar headlines the group by earning First Team honors with an at-large selection.

Lazar was nearly flawless for the regional finalist Gulls, as the sophomore shortstop committed just one error on the season for an unreal .992 fielding percentage. Lazar started 44 games for the Blue and Green, batting .305 with 36 hits and 19 runs batted in.

The Commonwealth Coast Conference Player of the Year Meghan Sargent was named to her second-straight All-Region team after batting .326 with six homeruns and 35 RBIs. Sargent, a Second Team selection, slugged at a .543 clip and had a team-high 75 total bases in 2008.

Danielle Sargent, a Third Team All-Region in 2007, joins Meghan on the NFCA Second Team. Danielle appeared in all 47 of Endicott's games, hitting .336 with 41 hits and 35 runs scored. Sargent also committed just one error and had 42 putouts for the Gulls.

Rounding out the All-Region selections is Third Team honoree Maria Mangine. The sophomore pitcher compiled a 15-2 overall record and became the ace of the staff with a 1.17 ERA. In 108 innings pitched, Mangine allowed just 18 earned runs and struck out 67 batters. The Endicott sophomore held opposing hitters to just a .216 batting average.
