Pearson and Elwell receive weekly honors

BEVERLY, Mass. - Endicott College seniors Rachel Pearson (Gales Ferry, Conn.) and Jenn Elwell (Tewksbury, Mass.) both received The Commonwealth Coast Conference weekly honors as announced by Commissioner Greg Kaye on Monday. Pearson and Elwell were named the conference's Player of the Week and Pitcher of the Week, respectively, for their performances helping the Gulls capture their sixth-straight conference championship.

Pearson collected a hit and drew a walk in each of the Gulls three TCCC Tournament games. She batted .667, compiled a .778 on-base percentage, and had an outstanding 1.167 slugging percentage. The senior catcher slugged a key two-run home run in Endicott's 4-1 victory over Western New England which allowed the Gulls to claim a spot in the conference championship game.

Elwell tossed two complete-game shutouts this week, one of them occurring in the TCCC Championship game versus Nichols College. She demonstrated pinpoint control going 14 innings without a single walk, hits batsman, or wild pitch. For the week she was 2-0 with 11 strikeouts and a 0.00 ERA.

Endicott, currently 38-4 overall, has been selected as the number two seed in the Plattsburgh, N.Y. region of the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. They will travel to New York to take on Keuka College (23-7) on Thursday at 2:00 p.m.
