WENHAM, Mass. - The Endicott College softball team swept rival Gordon College in a TCCC doubleheader by scores of 6-1 and 13-2 on Saturday in Wenham, Mass.

The Gulls (22-3, 14-2) plated three runs in the top of the second in game one as Casey Shanley (Billerica, Mass.), Merry MacDonald (Braintree, Mass.), and sophomore Sara Spaziano (Norton, Mass.) each had an RBI in the inning. Endicott added two more in the top of the fourth including another RBI off the bat of Spaziano and Shanley scored on a throwing error to make it 5-0 after four. The Gulls tacked on one more in the sixth as Paula McGinn (Lynn, Mass.) singled and scored on another Fighting Scots' (6-18, 5-9) error. Granat provided the only run of the game for the Scots with a homer in the bottom of the inning and the Gulls went on to win 6-1 with the help of four Fighting Scots' errors.

Earning the win for the Gulls was sophomore Maria Mangine (Lockport, N.Y.) who allowed just five hits over seven innings and striking out five. Granat was hit with the complete game loss allowing eight hits and just two earned runs.

In the nightcap, the bats stayed hot for the Gulls as eight different players had at least one hit and Danielle Sargent (Sabattus, Maine), Mangine, and Hayley Hovhanessian (Farmington, Conn.) each had three runs batted in. The Scots plated a run in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from freshman Courtney Stevenson (Bangor, Maine) which scored senior Cindy Hill (Laguna Niguel, Calif.) who singled to lead off the inning. Hill would have an RBI single in the third for the Scots' other run but it was not enough as the Gulls downed the home team 13-2 in five innings.

Jen Elwell (Tewksbury, Mass.) got the victory for the Gulls in game two allowing just four hits and striking out five.

With the sweep the Gulls improve to 22-3 on the season and 14-2 in the TCCC. Endicott returns to action on Sunday when they travel to Babson Park, Mass. to take on Babson College in a doubleheader. Game times are scheduled for 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.
