Softball earns national ranking

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Endicott College softball team is now ranked 20th in the nation according to the The National Fastpitch Coaches Association Division III Top 25 Poll released on Wednesday.

The Gulls vaulted themselves into the Top 25 this week with key victories over nationally ranked opponents such as Wheaton College (Mass.) and Tufts University. EC, who is now 31-4, are also ranked number one in New England according to the NEISCA Poll. The Green and Blue currently stand alone atop the The Commonwealth Coast Conference with a record of 20-2.

Endicott has been led offensively by reigning TCCC Player of the Week, Meghan Sargent (Salisbury, Mass.). Sargent is currently leading the team in batting average (.364), slugging (.609), hits (40), doubles (9), home runs (6), and RBI (29). Sophomore Maria Mangine (Lockport, N.Y.) has been the leader on the mound going 12-1 while compiling a 1.31 ERA. She has thrown 11 complete games including four shutouts.

The Gulls will play their final doubleheader of the season versus Salve Regina University on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in Newport, R.I. Endicott will then host the TCCC Tournament starting on Tuesday, April 29th at Endicott Softball Field in Beverly, Mass. EC's first game is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. (or 20 minutes following the conclusion of game one)
