Field Hockey Defeats WPI, 4-1

WORCESTER, Mass. — The Endicott field hockey team downed WPI, 4-1, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon at H. Carr Field. 

Knotted at zero heading out of the half, Olivia Lampasona (Watertown, Mass.) quickly potted a pair of tallies at the 39:50 and 40:23 marks, respectively, to give the Gulls a 2-0 advantage.

From there, Maddy Dengler (Winchester, Mass.) found the stick of Meaghan Hogan (Cheshire, Conn.) to extend Endicott's lead, 3-0, at the 47:03 mark.

Reagan Hicks (Barnstable, Mass.) rounded out the list of goal scorers by ripping one home off a rebound opportunity (56:08).

Meanwhile, in goal, Alexis DeMattia (Methuen, Mass.) stopped eight saves in her colligate debut (1-0).  

BEYOND THE BOX

  • Endicott remains undefeated in the all-time series versus WPI (2-0). 
  • Lampasona notched the fourth multi-goal game of her career. 
  • Hogan and Lampasona are tied for the lead in goals scored with three a piece. 
  • Hicks recorded her first collegiate goal. 
  • Endicott edged WPI in shots, 16-15. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (2-2) travels to Wheaton (Mass.) on Thursday, September 15 at 7 PM. WPI (1-3) visits Fitchburg State on Monday, September 12 at 4 PM.
