Endicott seeded fifth in NCAA Regional Tournament

May 17, 2004

The NCAA Baseball New England Regional Tournament schedule has been released. Endicott is seeded fifth in New England and will be playing this Thursday at 3:30pm, versus \#2 seed, Western New England College (WNEC). Top seeded Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) has been named as host institution for the 2004 NCAA Division III New England Regional Tournament.

Games will be played from Thursday through Sunday, May 23rd in this double elimination tournament. The Endicott Gulls will play their second game on Friday. If they win Thursday, they will play Friday at 7:00pm versus the winner of the \#3 Babson College vs. \#4 Bridgewater State College game. If they lose Thursday, they will play Friday at 12:00pm versus the loser of the ECSU vs. \#6 Amherst College game.

All six teams competing in the New England regional qualified automatically by winning their respective conference championships. Endicott, ECSU and Bridgewater State all return to the New England regional from a year ago. Last year, Endicott lost, 8-3, to ECSU and, 5-1, to Albertus Magnus. ECSU went on to win the regional defeating Bridgewater State in the championship game.

Eight regional tournaments will be staged this week around the country, with the champions advancing to the NCAA Division III national tournament May 28-June 1 at Fox Cities Stadium in Grand Chute, WI.

The New England champion will open the national tournament against the winner of the Mideast Regional. Competing in the Mideast Regional are top-seeded College of Wooster, second-seeded Manchester College (IN), third-seeded Heidelberg College and fourth-seeded Albion College.
