(New London, NH) In a game tied 6-6 after four innings, it would take 7 more innings for either team to score just one more. Unfortunately for the Gulls it was Colby-Sawyer who pushed the run across in the bottom of the 11th. Endicott's Mike Daggett was the fourth pitcher of the day and took the loss with just 1.1 innings pitched.
Colby Sawyer broke the ice early by stealing home in the first inning. After two quick strike outs for Endicott starter, Jamie Turner, CSC's Jon Clay doubled to left and went to third on a wild pitch. Turner walked Joel Ashton to set up 1st and 3rd. Ashton took off for second and Clay bolted for home simultaneously. The throw went down to second and Clay scored easily.
The Gulls bounced right back however and put up three in the top of the second. With two out Brendan Tiani walked. Endicott then got three straight hits including a two run triple from Pat Vincent to make the score 3-1. The Gulls tacked on another one in the third when Dave Babiarz walked and scored on a double from Matt Bishop.
The Chargers put up five in their half of the third. John Johanson singled to start the inning. Joey Magnani walked and Steve Hansen singled to load the bases with no outs. Jon Clay singled in a run, then Turner struck out Joel Ashton. Justin Litchfield made it 4-4 with a two-run double to right. Rian McCarthy made it 6-4 with another two-run double to right. Jon Trowt came on to replace Turner and got two outs with a ground out and strike out.
Again Endicott bounced back and tied at 6-6 in the top of the fourth. Matt Bishop picked up his 2nd and 3rd RBIs with a double that scored Babiarz and Stephen Vidmosko. From there the pitchers took over until the 11th. Trowt pitched 3.1 innings and Ian McCarthy pitched 3.1 as well.
Endicott's Mike Daggett was in his second inning of work when Colby-Sawyer won the game. Joey Magnani led off with an infield single and went to second on a throwing error caused by the slow roller. He was bunted to third and scored with infield in and a ground ball bounced off the chest of EC second baseman Kevin Donahue.
Endicott drops to 13-12, 7-4 in the CCC, while Colby Sawyer improves to 6-11, 4-3 in the CCC.
