WENHAM, Mass. — The third-seeded Endicott women's tennis team defeated No. 2 Gordon, 4-0, in the Conference of New England (CNE) Semifinals on Thursday evening at the Brigham Athletic Complex.
The Blue and Green captured the first point of the match by sweeping the doubles action.
The Gulls top pair of Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Ripley Uyeda (Ranchos Palos Verdes, Calif.) earned a convincing 6-2 victory, while Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) and Caroline Sutliffe (Duxbury, Mass.) secured the doubles point with another 6-2 win at No. 2.
In singles, the Gulls were in full command of the match behind strong play by Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.), Martinelli, and Sutliffe, as all three were victorious to punch Endicott's ticket to the CNE Championship.
Leclerc garnered the Gulls second point of the match at No. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 triumph, while Martinelli produced a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 4 to push Endicott's lead to 3-0 in the match. Sutliffe provided the Gulls winning point at No. 3 singles via a 6-0, 6-3 score.

"The work we've been putting in all season is starting to show", said interim women's tennis head coach Ibadat Javed. "We played offensive doubles today which gave us solid momentum going into singles where we continued to battle and dictate points well."
