BEVERLY, Mass. — Today's women's tennis match between Endicott and Gordon has been suspended due to darkness (tied 3-3). More details on the resumption of the matchup will follow in the coming days.
Endicott earned the point in doubles play as the No. 1 pairing of Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.) / Samantha Hartmann (Ho-Ho-Kus, N.J.) and the No. 2 duo of Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.) / Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) both won their matches by identical 6-2 scores.
In singles, Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 1 before Fleming eventually claimed a hard-fought 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 5 to push the Gulls ahead, 3-2.
The Fighting Scots countered with another win, this time at No. 6, leaving the No. 2 flight between Endicott's Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) and Gordon's Annette Kim (Andover, Mass.) to decide the outcome of the contest.
Uyeda and Kim were able to get through two gritty sets (7-6 (7-5), 6-7 (6-8) prior to the match being suspended to darkness.
