Women's Tennis Bests Division II St. Michael's, 6-1

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated to St. Michael's, 8-1, in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon at the South Tennis Courts. 

Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.)Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.), and Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) were all double winners for the Gulls.

Guster and Lecler teamed up for a convincing 6-2 victory at No. 1 doubles before the duo split off and claimed wins at No. 1 (6-2, 6-3) and No. 3 (6-2, 6-4) singles, respectively.

Meanwhile, Uyeda notched a victory at No. 2 doubles with Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) (6-4) and then at No. 4 singles (6-3, 6-0).

"We did a nice job being intentional with our tactics today," said Endicott women's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "We made an effort to be aggressive with positioning and not settling for moonball rallies. Quick turnaround with two more matches this week, but will enjoy the win."

Endicott (1-1) opens conference play as they host Curry on Thursday, September 12 at 3:30 PM. St. Michael's (0-4) competes in the ITA East Regional Championship September 13-16.
