BEVERLY, Mass. — Five members of the Endicott women's tennis team have earned Conference of New England (CNE) postseason honors, as announced by the league office earlier today.
ALL-CNE FIRST TEAM SINGLES
Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.)
Guster was 3-4 overall in singles, all at the No. 1 position, including a 2-0 record in conference play. All three victories were in straight sets and lost just four games in conference play.
The senior is just the third student-athlete in program history to earn all-conference first-team singles all four years, joining Kate Cioffi (Essex, Vt.) and Hayley Barnett (Marlboro, N.J.).
Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.)
Uyeda posted a 5-3 overall record in singles play on the year and a 2-2 mark in CNE action. In dual matches the senior played matches at four different positions, going 1-0 at No. 1, 1-0 at No. 3, and 2-1 at No. 4.
This is Uyeda's third career All-Conference First Team award and fourth career All-Conference honor (third team, 2021).
ALL-CNE SECOND TEAM SINGLES
Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.)
Leclerc compiled a 4-4 overall record and a 2-1 ledger in CNE play. Leclerc was 2-1 at No. 3 singles for the Gulls on the season. In CNE action, one of her wins came at No. 1 over Western New England, while her other victory occurred at No. 3 versus Roger Williams.
This is Leclerc's first career CNE All-Conference honor.
Caroline Sutliffe (Duxbury, Mass.)
Sutliffe notched a 7-2 overall record and 3-1 mark in CNE action. Sutliffe picked up victories at the top five positions for the Gulls, including a 3-1 record at No. 5. Meanwhile, all three of her league victories came at the No. 1, 2, and 5 positions.
This is Sutliffe's first career CNE All-Conference honor.
ALL-CNE FIRST TEAM DOUBLES
Guster / Uyeda
Guster and Uyeda went 3-0 overall on the season and 1-0 in league play, all at the No. 1 position. The duo picked up a victory against Division I Holy Cross and only dropped five games against CCC opponents during the regular season.
This is the pairing's fourth career All-CCC First Team award. Guster and Uyeda are the first doubles pair in program history to earn First Team All-Conference all four years.
ALL-CNE SECOND TEAM DOUBLES
Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) / Sutliffe
Martinelli and Sutliffe registered an undefeated 4-0 overall record and a 2-0 showing in conference action, at the No. 2 and No. 3 flights. The pairing picked up victories against Division I Holy Cross and Division II Saint Anselm.
This is the duo's first career All-CNE Second Team honor.
CNE COMMUNITY SERVICE TEAM
The Community Service Team replaces the Team Sportsmanship Award and highlights one student-athlete per institution who demonstrates a commitment to their community.
Uyeda and the Endicott women's tennis program worked with Habitat for Humanity during the preseason.
