BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Roger Williams (RWU), 6-1, on Saturday afternoon in Conference of New England (CNE) action at the South Campus Courts.
The Gulls took the opening point in doubles action taking all three flights.
Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.) and Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.) secured a 6-2 victory at No. 3, while the Gulls top duo of Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) and Lejla Guster (Wethersfield, Conn.) managed a 6-3 triumph.
No. 2 Caroline Sutliffe (Wethersfield, Conn.) and Olivia Martinelli (Coral Springs, Fla.) completed the doubles sweep with a gritty 7(7)-6(3) win.
In singles, Leclerc (No. 3, 6-1, 6-3), Sutliffe (No. 5, 6-2, 6-2), and Guster (No. 1, 6-2, 6-2) all produced victories to clinch the match for the Blue and Green.
Meanwhile, No. 6 Amber Woods (Scarborough, Maine) and No. 2 Uyeda picked up 6-3, 6-2 and 6-2, 7(7)-6(5) wins, respectively.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Gulls move to 3-2 at The Nest.
- Sutliffe earned a team-best sixth singles triumph this afternoon.
- Martinelli / Sutliffe are an unblemished 4-0 as a doubles pairing.
