Women’s Tennis Blanks Western New England, 7-0

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Endicott women's tennis team defeated Western New England, 7-0, in Conference of New England (CNE) action on Tuesday evening at the Forest Park Tennis Courts.

Doubles featured wins in respective order at No. 1 (6-2), No. 2 (6-1), and No. 3 (6-0).

The Gulls lineup consisted of Emily Leclerc (Manchester, N.H.) / Ripley Uyeda (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif.) at the top, and Abbey Fleming (Wolfeboro, N.H.) / Ana Mar Molina (Sachse, Texas) and Yolanda Mendonca (Albany, N.Y.) / Sofia Montoya (Wenham, Mass.) in the next two flights.  

Singles action presented similar scores as Endicott only dropped five games.

Leclerc and Amber Woods (Scarborough, Maine) swept their matches at No. 1 and No. 4.

Fleming, Ashley Klauck (Magnolia, Texas), and Molina lost one game each at No. 3 (6-1, 6-0), No. 5 (6-0, 6-1), and No. 6 (6-0), respectively, while Sutliffe rounded out the results at No. 2 (6-0, 6-2).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Fleming clinched the victory for the Gulls following decisions by Woods and Leclerc.
  • Endicott is 2-1 on the road in conference play this season.
  • The Golden Bears are 1-2 at home this fall.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (4-5, 3-2 CNE) hosts Roger Williams on Saturday, October 5 at 12 PM. Western New England (2-5, 0-4 CNE) hosts UMass Boston on Thursday, October 3 at 3:30 PM.
