Box Score

BEVERLY, Mass. – Despite holding a decisive 28-8 advantage in shots, Endicott College was only able to muster one goal in a 1-0 win over TCCC opponent Wentworth on Tuesday evening in Beverly, Mass. The win moves the Gulls to 6-4 overall and 4-1 in league play, while the Leopards fall to 2-8 and 1-4 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference.

Endicott outshot the visitors at a 13-2 clip in the opening 45:00 minutes of play, misfiring on several first half scoring chances. \#Caitlin Flynn\# (Southold, N.Y.) had an opportunity with a free-kick from 18 yards out, however the senior’s shot sailed over the Wentworth net. The Leopards’ best chance of the first half came when freshman Stephanie Crockett (Bedford, Mass.) was sprung free on a breakaway, but was turned aside by a charging \#Elise Berry\# (Londonderry, N.H.). The two teams would head into the intermission gridlocked at 0-0.

It appeared the Gulls would break the ice in the 49th minute as Flynn found \#Allyson Bellemore\# (Manchester, N.H.) in a two-on-one break, but Bellemore’s opportunity went by the wayside as her shot just missed the top left corner. Wentworth goalkeeper Katherine Matthews (Northborough, Mass.) made a quality save just two minutes later, as she dove back on her line to keep a blooping \#Caitlin Flynn\# bid from making its way across the goal line.

Matthews best stop of the night came with less than 25:00 minutes left in regulation as the sophomore made a sprawling breakaway stop on a low shot by Bellemore, keeping the visitors in the game.

Endicott finally found the back of the net in the 82nd minute as \#Caitlin Flynn\# found space on the right side and put a well placed shot in the upper-left corner for the 1-0 advantage. The lone goal proved to be enough as the Blue and Green held on for the 1-0 win.

Flynn led all players with a game-high six shots (four on goal). Both Bellemore and \#Colleen Pepin\# (Fairhaven, Mass.) had five attempts while Kayla and \#Karyn Plante\# (Sanford, Maine) had three shots apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper \#Elise Berry\# made four saves for her fifth shutout of the season. Her counterpart Katherine Matthews made nine saves for the visitors. Endicott held a 13-0 advantage in corner kicks

The Gulls return to action on Saturday when Endicott hosts Nichols College at 4:00 p.m. on Homecoming Weekend. Wentworth looks to rebound against New England College on the same day at 12:00 p.m. in Henniker, N.H.
