BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College women's soccer team has earned the number one seed in the upcoming TCCC Playoffs, which begins with quarterfinal match-ups on campus sites Saturday, as announced by The Commonwealth Coast Conference Commissioner Gregg Kaye on Thursday morning.
The Gulls (13-5 overall) captured the top seed in the conference tournament after compiling an 11-2 record in TCCC play, best in the league.
On Saturday, Endicott will host \#8 seed University of New England (5-10-1 overall, 5-7-1 TCCC) in one of four quarterfinal match-ups. In addition, \#2 Western New England (13-4-2, 10-1-2) will host \#7 Colby-Sawyer College (8-8-2, 6-6-1), \#3 Roger Williams University (13-4-1, 10-2-1) will host \#6 Wentworth (8-7-2, 8-4-1) and \#4 Curry (13-4-1, 9-3-1) will host \#5 Gordon (12-5-1, 9-3-1).
One tiebreaker was applied in determining the seeds. Curry and Gordon both concluded the regular-season with identical 9-3-1 TCCC records. Curry earned the \#4 seed by virtue of a 1-0 overtime win over Gordon on September 18.
Quarterfinal matches are tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Some start times may change in the event that an institution earns the right to host a men's soccer quarterfinal match that same day. The men's tournament pairings will be announced later this evening upon conclusion of the regular-season schedule.
Quarterfinal winners will advance to the semifinal round which will be played on Wednesday, October 31 at the higher seed. Matches are tentatively scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
Semifinal winners will square off for the conference championship on Saturday, November 3 at 1:00 p.m., with the game played at the highest remaining seed.
The Gulls have won six of the last eight conference championships since joining The Commonwealth Coast Conference in the 1999-2000 academic year. The Blue and Green also captured four straight titles from 2003-2006 and have only failed to make the championship once in their eight year affiliation with the conference.
