BEVERLY, MA - Gabrielle Woodson (Plano, TX) beat Endicott goalkeeper Amy Meuse (Saugus, MA/Saugus) with a slick breakaway shot to the lower right hand corner in the 23rd minute of the first half to propel visiting Williams College to a, 1-0, win over Endicott on Sunday afternoon in Beverly, MA.

Williams, who entered Sunday's game with a perfect 6-0 record and ranked No. 2 in New England according to the latest D3Kicks.com poll, came out aggressive against the Blue and Green. With the field slanting in Williams' favor for much of the first half, the Ephs broke the scoreless tie in the 23rd minute. Ana Sani (Scarsdale, NY) sprung Gabrielle Woodson on a breakaway with a slick pass through two Endicott defenders. Woodson capitalized on her opportunity, burying a hard shot to the lower part of the right side of the EC goal for the 1-0 lead.

Endicott goalkeeper Amy Meuse kept the Gulls within one as she made several big saves in the opening 45:00 minutes, sending the home team into the intermission trailing by a goal.

Williams returned to the field for the second half and controlled much of the tempo, eating valuable minutes off the clock with a ball control style of play. The Ephs' Sara Wild (Portland, OR) had the best opportunity in the second frame to double the visitors lead, as she nailed the crossbar in the 67th minute.

Woodson led the Williams' scoring attack as she rattled off five of the Ephs' 15 total shots. Williams out shot Endicott, 15-5, including nine-to-one in the second half. The Gulls Caitlin Flynn (Southold, NY/Mattituck) and Margreta Weber (Bedford, NH/Manchester West) both paced Endicott with two shots apiece.

Meuse made eight saves in the loss, while her counterpart Lauren Sinnenberg (Westfield, NJ) turned away two shots to earn the shutout victory.

With the win, Williams improves to 7-0-0 (3-0-0 NESCAC). The Ephs return to action on Saturday as they travel to square-off with Trinity at 12:00 noon. The loss sets the Gulls back to 4-3-0 (3-0-0 TCCC). Endicott looks to rebound on Monday when they jump back into TCCC play against Anna Maria at 4:00 PM in Paxton, MA.
