BRISTOL, RI - Senior forward Ashley Clark (E. Kinston, NH/Pentucket Regional) broke a scoreless tie in the 83rd minute on a feed from Paula McGinn (Lynn, MA/Lynn Classical), as the Endicott women's soccer team defeated Roger Williams University, 1-0, in a battle of top-conference teams on Saturday.
Following a scoreless first half in which Endicott outshot Roger Williams, 14-5, the Gulls poured on the pressure in the final 45:00 minutes of action. Hawks goalkeeper Jen Garside (Londonderry, NH) kept the home team close as she turned away 13 shots in the match. Endicott's Ashley Clark buried the game winner at 82:48 as she found the left corner of the goal on a slick feed from 2006 CCC Player of the Year Paul McGinn.
The one goal was all the Gulls would need as junior `keeper Amy Meuse (Saugus, MA/Saugus) and the Endicott defense held strong to blank RWU for the 1-0 victory. The Gulls held a strong shots advantage, as the Blue and Green controlled the game with a 25-13 shooting advantage.
With the win, Endicott improves to 3-2-0 overall and 1-0 in TCCC play. The Gulls put their three-game winning streak on the line this Wednesday as they make their home debut with Colby-Sawyer College at 6:00 PM in Beverly, MA.
