Stats

HENNIKER, NH - Caitlin Flynn (Southold, NY/Mattituk) scored twice in the final 20 minutes of play to lift Endicott College to a, 3-1, road win over TCCC foe New England College in women's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon.

With the win, the Gulls move to 1-0-0 in The Commonwealth Coast Conference and even their overall record to 2-2-0. The loss sets the Pilgrims back to 2-2-1 and drops them to 0-2-0 in TCCC action.

The two teams battled closely through the opening minutes but it was Endicott who grabbed control of the first half. The Gulls applied consistent offensive pressure, out shooting the Pilgrims 10-1 in the first frame. NEC's defense would hold strong with keeper Kerry Hughes (Wallkill, NY/Wallkill) making five saves to send the two teams into the break deadlocked in a 0-0 tie.

Endicott's Kellie Lajoie (York, ME/York) broke the scoring drought, as she found the back of the net off a feed from Ashley Clark (E. Kingston, NH/Pentucket Regional) to give the Gulls the 1-0 lead. The Pilgrims would waste no time responding with NEC's Stevie Hayes (Hopkinton, NH/Hopkinton) scoring her first career goal just 43 seconds later to tie the game.

The Blue and Green rebounded and came charging back, out shooting the Pilgrims 16-3 in the final 45:00 minutes. Caitlin Flynn notched the game-winner at the 70:49 mark to lead the Gulls to a 3-1 road win.

New England College's Kerry Hughes finished the afternoon with 13 saves for the home team. Endicott's Amy Meuse (Saugus, MA/Saugus) earned the win for the Gulls, turning away two shots en route to the Conference victory.

Next up for Endicott is a TCCC showdown against rival Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon in Bristol, RI. Traditionally two of the top teams in the league, the Gulls and the Hawks are certainly no strangers. The last time EC and RWU matched-up was in the 2006 CCC Finals as Endicott escaped with a, 2-1, win. Saturday's game time is scheduled for 3:30 PM at Roger Williams.
